We are off on a new adventure. We left on on the 6th and headed for Pennsylvania for a short visit with family and now we are on the way to Florida to take possesion of our new “toy”.
The new toy is a 42′ motor yacht. Those of you that follow this blog know that we have been looking for a boat for about a year. We found this
one last fall and after some negotiations, we finally finished the deal. The boat is ours!! Her name is going to be “Misty Moose” and we are heading south to start moving her north. If all goes well, we will proably do the Great American Loop but for now we will learn to run the boat and head up to the Carolina’s.
Retirement is great and we are looking forward to our travels. We hope that you will travel with us!

Our trip was lots of fun but still…threre’s no place like home!
We arrived back home yesterday, late afternoon. We logged over 4,000 miles, traveling through sixteen states and Washington DC. We visited family in Maryland, Pennsylvania and in Florida. We discovered great seafood restaurants in Florida and I discovered that I like something other than haddock for fish. We had a marvelous time on the Miami Mermaid, although I fought seasickness. We were able to see a part of the coast of Florida in a way that we could never have seen from land. We rented a cottage apartment right across from the beach in Fort Myers and we took long walks on the beach. We drove to Sanibel Island, walked on the beach and got the “Sanibel stoop” from collecting the sea shells that collect on the island. Hubby did most of the driving so I was able to do a “lot” of gawking. Believe it or not, I was without any internet access for twelve days and I hardly had time to miss it.
I aploigize for not sharing my travels along the way as I thought I would. I was just too busy having fun! Now that I am back home, I will share them with you in the next few posts.
By the way, most of the snow is gone here in Maine and some of the lakes are open. Spring has sprung here in Maine. It’s great to be back home!!

So great of a time, in fact, that I haven’t had time to do a post. Time is still short and so will this post be short. Tomorrow afternoon, we will board the Miami Mermaid and Captain Bob Hamilton will teach us how to pilot a trawler. It’s a pretty sweet looking boat—click on the boat name above and check out the photo’s.
I won’t be able to post for at least the next week and then I will try to post a little at a time of the places that we have seen. My next post will be of our time in Washington DC where we spent three days with our son and daughter-in-law touring the nations capital.
Meanwhile, think of us this week crusing the intercoastal waterway on the Miami Mermaid. Sure hope that the weather holds.
