Our RV shakedown “camping” trip is FINALLY behind us. Why do I have the word “camping” in quotes? Saying that I was camping makes me smile. It doesn’t seem like camping when you are actually in a tiny home. Steve and I camped in a tent for the first fifteen or so years of our marriage and always in remote out-of-the-way places. We have come a long way, baby!! 🙂
We purchased the RV in May and had planned to take a short shakedown trip and then a much longer trip to Maine. Unfortunately, that was not to be. We discovered a problem with a wheel bearing after getting it home. Bill Plemmons RV in Raleigh, NC, turned out NOT to be very helpful with our problem. In fact, they were almost useless, but I won’t go into that here. Last Sunday, we drove just a bit over a hundred miles to Riverside Campground near Belhaven, NC. I wanted to take photos of wildlife in the area and this was a perfect spot to get to the places that I wanted to photograph. We had a great three days and thoroughly enjoyed our mini-home. The shakedown went well except for a problem with our auto-levelers. Not sure if it is us or the levelers, but we will get it figured out. The trailer behind us looks close but there was actually a canal between us.
Our rig is a 2016 Grand Design Reflections 27RL. This will be the new normal for camping for the Buzzell’s. So what do you think? Not a bad way to go “camping,” is it?? I think that these days, it is called “glamping”! 🙂
