On the road…

Packing UpThis morning we packed all our “stuff” into the truck and left the snowy north! As you can see, it is a darn good thing that we have a truck. We brought everything but the kitchen sink. We finally left the house at 8:30 AM and headed down the road. First stop was Newport Dunkin’ Donuts for a breakfast sandwich and a cup of coffee.

Weather this morning was cold and windy but clear and beautiful. It was a good day to travel. By the time that we got to Portland, there was noticeably less snow and just before Hartford there wasn’t any more snow.  Yahooo!

We drove 420 miles today—we are not folks that can travel long distances each day, but hey, we are retired now and can take our good old time. We are in Fishkill, New York and guess what??!! The grass is greening up here. It is hard to believe that 400 miles can make such a difference. It is cool though. Temperature was about 38° when we arrived and there was a cold wind blowing.

Tomorrow we drive the rest of the way to our son and daughter-in-law’s home in Silver Spring, MD.  I can’t wait! It has been much too long since we were able to spend some time with them.  We will be sightseeing in DC over the weekend. Hubby, being a military man, has spent time in DC before but I have never been.  Another adventure for me!
