Our trip to Florida is mapped out below. We put 2337 miles on our car in twelve days. The longest we stayed at any place was four days. This is not the way that we usually travel in Florida but we saw some different areas and were able to revisit some of our favorites areas where we have already been. We also checked out some of the places along the way.
Our first stop was Murrells Inlet in South Carolina. Murrells Inlet is called the seafood capital of the world. It was a quick stop for us. We walked down the boardwalk in front of some of the restaurants. It was drizzly and dreary which is what we encountered for the first few days of our travel but it was a nice area. The water was unbelievably clear. The photo below is looking towards a much longer boardwalk across the marsh and a couple of signs that I liked. We hadn’t gone very far when I spotted this loon in its winter attire. They sure are much prettier in the summer. It was quite a way from the boardwalk but note how you can see the foot in the water. It was there for a moment and then dived. I like how you can see its head under the water as it dives. We were back in the car in no time because I wanted to visit Huntington Beach State Park before we drove to Georgetown, where we planned on spending the night. Next post will feature some of the sights in Huntington Beach State Park.
