January in Maine!

The temperature finally warmed up yesterday—if you call 15° warm.  After a few days with sub-zero temperatures, yesterday feltChicken Stir-fry almost balmy. With the “warWoodstove burning on a cold January evemth” came snow. The snow started in the morning and continued through most of the night. It was a great time to fire up the woodstove and have dinner in front of the fire.

We had a yummy chicken stir-fry with rice on the side  for dinner. Thanks, Maria, for teaching your mom-in-law that there are other ways to cook beside the grill and the microwave. :-)

This morning, I woke to more snow falling but within the hour the sun had arrived and as I looked outside, I marveled at the winter wonderland around me. While I drank my first cup of coffee, I just had to take a few photo’s to share.January snow storm

Through the windowAll good things must come to an end though because right after breakfast, I had to shovel that 14″ of pretty stuff from the decks and stairs.

Spring (and Florida) are getting closer!

Brrrrrr…if 15F feels balmy to you, I guess I should stop complaining about our 20 degree temps here! But you’re right, going through old files and tape collections, and with a delicious stir-fry and mug o’ java to warm you up is a great way to while away the day. (Hope you found the rice cooker!)
