Hunting camps are found in almost every state. The older camps make excellent photography subjects. They are found in various degrees of repair or sometimes disrepair, and I find them a nostalgic reminder of times gone by.
The one below is located somewhere in North Carolina. One would almost think it was an abandoned building–that is until you see the dish on the roof and the electric wire running to the camp. That tells me that it is possibly a camp that is still active. Many camps have a game pole and the one for this camp is located across the road from the camp. They are built to hang game to keep it away from predators, while at camp. Our camp in Maine had one when we purchased it, but it has since rotted away. Hunting camps are nostalgic for me. I spent many a day at a friends camp in Whitefield, Maine. A warm fire in the woodstove, a shared meal, the camaraderie of friends and hunting tales. Priceless!!
