Welcome to day 364 of 365 photos…we have lived in the area for over three years and just found Mortons Academy as we were riding around Swansboro looking for todays photo. We actually drove right by but I caught the sign and thought we should go back to investigate. I’m glad we did because there on a back street was this old one-room schoolhouse.
Mortons Academy schoolhouse was built in 1880 and was used until the mid-1920’s. The building was moved to its present location in 1996, restored and is now a museum. It is opened limited hours during August and other times by appointment. For more information on this old schoolhouse, click HERE. Note the hand-pump, flagpole and the school bell in the photo. Camera: Nikon D7100 – Lens: Nikon 18-300mm
Focal Length: 34mm – Aperture: f/8 – Shutter Speed: 1/30 second – ISO: 100
There is still an outhouse to be built. OMG, I remember those cold seats in the winter in Pennsylvania! Ok! – I admit it – I have gone to one room schoolhouses. Have you? Told you I was a woman of a “certain” age. 🙂
Glad that you stopped by my self-project of a photo a day for 365 days. If this is your first time to my site and you wonder what this 365 days of photos is all about, click HERE to read the original post. Settings are added to the photos so that I can remember what I’ve used and can see if any future photos done with other settings turn out better or worse. Remember, this project is all about my learning more about photography.
Check out E-liz Treasures to see what my friend in Maine is doing with her daily photos.
Comments are always welcomed. I would love to hear from you.
