Welcome to day 231 of 365 photos…I thought I would share these building murals that are located in New Bern, NC. Click HERE if you would like to read more about each building mural. As always, click on any photo for a full-size slide show.

These building murals projects have been done in various towns in NC by a partnership between the Global Leadership Institute and the communities. The why and how of these projects is explained on the website:
“Interactive, engaging and empowering — this is ROOTS: Social Histories through Murals — an organic community building process that has the possibility to do one or more of the following:
- To engage schools and communities in exploring current problems, possibilities and opportunities – and then to broaden and build upon these possibilities and opportunities.
- To have students, teachers and community members document the stories and histories within their community, to learn from these stories, and then to share these stories (through art, print or radio), becoming makers of history.
- To be the creators of an inspirational and powerful work of art to be shared and honored within one’s community.
- To be part of a large collective, state-wide (or community) initiative that honors the diversity and richness in one’s community and state.“
I think that the building murals are pretty cool looking. What do you think?
Glad that you stopped by my self-project of a photo a day for 365 days. If this is your first time to my site and you wonder what this 365 days of photos is all about, click HERE to read the original post. Settings are added to the photos so that I can remember what I’ve used and can see if any future photos done with other settings turn out better or worse. Remember, this project is all about my learning more about photography.
Check out E-liz Treasures to see what my friend in Maine is doing with her daily photos.
Comments are always welcomed. I would love to hear from you.
