Birds are finally at the feeders again. I am so excited. Granted, they are mostly goldfinches but after a VERY long dry spell with bird feeding, I’m happy to see anything at the feeders. In the last few days, I started to see some other kinds of birds so I am hoping that the dry spell is over. Won’t be long before all those entertaining goldfinches head north and I sure hope that I still have something left to watch when they are gone. Although not pictured, I also saw a chickadee and a red-bellied woodpecker at the feeders this morning.
I don’t usually use the shepherd hook pole for feeding because the squirrels can get up there but I wanted to get some feed in different places to try and entice more birds. So far, the squirrels haven’t been interested but now that I said that, I will probably see them up there tomorrow. *grin*
Photos were taken through the windows so may be a bit fuzzy and/or have glare. In the case of the photo below, you can see the window grids.
We have even had some front yard birds. These don’t come to the feeders but they are really liking something out in the lawn. This is the first time that I have seen either of these birds around our yard. I had seen a Killdeer before (just not in our yard) but when I saw the yellow and black of the Eastern Meadowlark, I went running for the bird app. They are a new bird for me. I hope to get one of them flying because they look really pretty when they fly.
