2016 birds – a few of my fav’s.
It’s been a while. I have to say that 2016 was a bit of a difficult year for me, starting with chemo and ending with a knee replacement. Recuperation is going very well and I am hoping that soon, I will be out taking photos again.
Meanwhile, I will post some of my 2016 photo fav’s, starting with 2016 birds that I like. Many of these have been posted on Facebook or Instagram so it may be a repeat for some of you. Hopefully, you will enjoy them the second time around. 🙂
Pelicans are one of my favorite birds to photograph. Brown pelicans are the ones that are most abundant in my neck of the woods. It is fun to sit by the ocean and watch them go splashing face-first into the water while they are fishing. Most times, even when you get fairly close to them, they really don’t care that you are there with a camera. That being said, all of these photos have been taken with a zoom.
I found this beautiful Blue Grosbeak in a corn field near Pungo. This was the first time that I had ever seen one and didn’t realize what it was until I got home and did the research. These Cormorants were in a pond at a local greenhouse. I think they are Double Crested Cormorants, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong. You never know where you might find something to photograph.I can almost always find an egret just waiting for me to snap the photo. This Great Egret was preening and then decided he was hungry. Looks like the gull is waiting for that fish to be dropped. Love going to Pungo to see the Tundra Swans that come to winter here in NC. They bicker like kids. These little Sandpipers are always fun to watch as they skitter in and out of the waves while catching their dinner.Last, but not least, Steve and I were able to be at Possumwood Acres when an eagle was being released back into the wild. Look at the determination in his eyes. That’s it for this batch. So glad that you stopped by. Stay tuned for some of my other 2016 favs, coming in a few days.
